Little faint but this is a draft on one of the five posters I plan on doing. My book will be called 'FROM FRIDAY - TUESDAY' or maybe 'THE LONG WEEKEND' because 'from friday to tuesday could get confused with when it actually takes place. 

Also I've decided unlike the last book I am thinking of adding little illustration to some of the pages. The reasons for this are as follows:

• It allows me to fill pages with more content
• Allows for better content been that sometimes finding some to draw on then re create doesn't work and can make for a bad image
• If my posters are going to have illustrations on then the zines do not it's quite misleading as to what the content could be.

I'll have to try it both ways to see what works.

More book posters

I started to look at book launch posters more in my field. More creative and innovative and much more inviting, Some of these are for a an album launch but it's the some association I guess.


As stated these posters are much more along the lines of what I want to be looking at. On reflection is appears most of these are for comic book launches or children's books. I have noticed that a lot of artists I follow on Instagram wouldn't have a book launch as such but more likely to set up their own online shop then flood Instagram with their advertisements. Much more cost effective strategy and if I were doing this for real that's exactly what I'd do but this is for a hypothetical book launch.


After checking out artists more along my creative line or people whose work I admire I found these. Not book posters but it's the exact same execution as one.

 

These have exactly the same information as a book launch poster Who;When;Where;What and then usually an incentive 'FREE BEER FREE FOOD' This kind of style reflects my own practice and It would make more sense to create a poster along these things as to better reflect the product in question.

Book launch posters

From a quick google search you can find most book covers and lacking anything appealing, well most anyway but you get the general conventions of a book poster. Who;When;Where it's all you need but these aren't anything like the posters I want to make.



Most of these are cnmtempoty books ranging in the last few years and some are dynamic and interesting but I feel that there's a lot left to be desired. This was just to get an idea, my posters will be 100 miles away from these as it will need ot reflect the feel of the zines I'm creating.

K: ZERO POUND CLUB

This Zine will be much more D.I.Y I did like the first 'Don't Get Too Comfortable'' but I felt how almost clean it was took away from the impact and feel I was going for also my DSLR is broken so I've not got a top line camera anymore.

I was just messing around with some quotes and the line 'I'm back in zero pounds club, FUCK SAKE' I quite like to I made this little thing.

I feel this is is how the kind of imagery that the 5 Zines will have in them. I think having it with objects from my house and the quote from people in my house make it much more relevant.

EXAMPLE // TUESDAY NOTES

So I feel it's almost time wasting to sketch the people as im listening to them as they nothing to do with the final product or this project so instead I've just stuck to jotting down things that I think might be interesting taken out of context.

TUESDAY:

Each Initial represents someone who lives in my house or was in my house and the time. I don't think that's too bad a start If i'm honest, there's 10 pages right there is I make it properly. So hopefully thing goes a bit more smoothly than last time.

505 - Re-submission

505 RE-SUBMISSION

After having a meeting with my tutor the main issue came to lack of contextual research and that my ideas somewhat snowballed into nothing and instead of focusing on one thing I spread myself to thinly across many things and then had to rush the final products.

I've decided to almost pick up where I left off since that was my strongest idea. Using inanimate objects and giving them life regarding conversation however the difference this time will be that I will not go to pubs and draw conversations then add them to images. I instead will take notes of mine and my housemates conversations and then add them to objects around them so they have more context to said situation.

I will also have a look at some zines by contemporary illustrators I like too see how they format their work and maybe steal some ideas off them.

I plan to do 5 D.I.Y zines based on days in my house and things that happen to me; so A zine for Friday;Saturday;Sunday;Monday and Tuesday and that will be the basis of my project along with 5 different posters and 5 different merchandise ideas each reflecting a different day and then proceed to look for appropriate places that would hypothetically speaking launch said books.
