Z10
This is my final zine and by far the best executed. Like a few before it I decided to just put interesting characters or 'fiends' in the zine instead of the full sketchbook pages, and I completely changed the front cover.
It's now printed on card and added to the zine at the end. It gives it a much more refined feel, and the whole cover art and contact information is much more dynamic and all around a better design. It's more interesting to look at, more captivating and adds a lot more value to the zine. Making and audience want to pick it up and ultimately purchase it.

ZINE
Another for the fire!
Even though Zines are very throwaway to extent I think this most recent is the most successful yet. All the content just looks good together and I just think it works to flick through. Everything Is relevant and works well with the page before and the pay after. A step forward now would be to start fully colouring pages or adding more again.

BIGGER ZINE
The whole zine brief takes care of itself since it's an extension of my creative process but they still need to be examined and looked a a little closer. The Zines now solely consist of one or two images on a page as opposed to a full scanned page, it looks much better and helps give the designs more purpose and ties to zines together. Also they now have twice as much content, I was flicking through a previous Zine earlier and there just wasn't much too them, I decided to double the pages because it now feels like an actual publication and something I could flog for a few quid as opposed to feeling like something I'd have to give away for people to look at.

Zine//Breif - WE LIKE GARDENING
A collaboration zine with me and a photographer, the theme is loosely based around plants, and by loosley anything can be in it as long as there's at least a blade of grass near it. It was nice to collaborate and not have to do as much work for it. Its also interesting to see how my work looks when sat next too another form of art. The Juxtapoz in this zine really interests me and it's something I'd like to do a lot more of in the future.
This Zine is also in full colour, since i'm not going to be the one printing it I decided to add colour picture which meant I could use some of the paintings I did since when made into greyscale they loose a lot of their pop
Zine
Another zine based off some sketcbook work, These are becoming more about filling a quota now as opposed to anything else, as always its just so my sketchbook drawings aren't going to waste and people can actually see the monsters that live in my head from time to time.
Zine
This zine contains only characters and no full pages, I think it makes for a much cleaner looking publication and the stark black and white is much better than some of the murky greys that were coming through from time to time. Also its allowed me to visit humour again. If not humour at least having fun with chracter and words. I've always enjoyed adding a hint of humour of weird phrases in my work, im a big fan or words and I think it works well with my work so i'd like to do more of this now as a few people have asked for a copy of this zine which must mean it's doing something right.

Shop Decals/Interior space
Identify a bar space, use as reference.
This was a very interesting review, it was less about the aesthetic of my work and more about how to put everything in order to get the most out of these next few weeks and really push my briefs forward. So now i've managed to get 5 full briefs set up, all with different time frames and a range of possible ideas. There were some similarities with Patricks review so things like making my work bigger and working in space are definite considerings I need to think about.

I'm enjoying making these, I can't decide if the greyscale takes away from the original work or adds to it, lets just say it makes it different that's easy enough.
The final double spread of this zine is a little bit different, it's a 'reductive' painting I've done with acrylic, a media and style I don't use a lot. It took me a lot longer than I'd like to admit for a sketchbook page but I liked the end result and I'd like to move forward with this.
I took the orignial colour scan, and decided to clean it up on photoshop.
I really like this outcome, I like the contrast on just a white back, it's a lot less busy than my usual work but I think it carries a lot of narrative with it also. It's defiantly something i'll be exploring further.

This ones a bit of a cheat since i've actually already uploaded it. I made this for my COP submission but completely forgot about it but now I remember and it's defiantly a Zine and it's defiantly my work so It's going into this brief as well.
It combines a lot of elements from custom painting; photography; look-book and montage work. I personally really like how this one turned out.
BAD HABITS
I made this one before I figured the page thing….

The exact premise as last time with the exception of a double page spread instead of all single page spreads. As low-fi and throw away as they may appear, and I imagined it could be argued there's not a lot too them, For how I work I do think they're important. Not as a money making machine, i'd sell these for £1-£3 so it's not going to make me rich but as far as my state of mind it's a good thing.
It takes work from my sketchbook; work which is very 'me' it's very fluid and playful and fun but no one would never get to see any of it, all these images would just stay locked away behind the front pages of m sketchbook so in that regard I think these Zines are important.
Also figured out the presentation to page problem, it was me being an idiot.
Z1
Using InDesign and Abode Photoshop I edited some of the pages in my sketchbook, mainly just to greyscale to save costs. I changed some of the contrast to make the pages look darker and some more interesting marks from other pages came through which I think makes it appear more interesting.
I've decided to title the first one 'With My Mind, it seemed appropiate.
Im going to make a few more like this just from my sketchbooks and then take a step back and see if something more interesting could be happening, or a step back to at least see where it stands.
When exporting it to a PDF and uploading to ISSU it seemed to merge pages so it's more of a slideshow than a book, I'm not sure if thats just for WEB though so i'll have to look more into why it's doing that or how avoidable it is.
Zines
After taking to Jon about making zines and him looking through my sketchbook he said a lot of the pages on their own stand out so it could simply scan in the more interesting pages from my sketchbook and make zines out of them, at least for a start to get the ball rolling so before I pick and choose certain pages I thought i'd upload the same presentation on my PPP blog of pages from my sketchbook.
My first zine or two will likely be compromised of pages from these two sketchbooks just so I actually start to put these things together.
