I decided i didn't want to use the previous image. As mentioned before I didn't like how often I was re-using the image. An a lot of bar items as i've seem as stainless steel and sold commercially so I thought I should take a more clinical approach to creating the image while still trying to keep my practice in it.
I've always been interested in signs and symbols, especially occult signs and norse symbolism so I tried to keep that I'm mind when trying to but a much cleaner image together.
This was the first page from my sketchbook with this in mind, I always draw symbols and make signs up but this was in mind to run along with the 'Pick Your Poison' tagline so i tried to keep that in mind. It got a bit difficult since my style of drawing is very loose with heavy mark making with doesn't really fit with the look I'm after, So I decided to head into photoshop and use the line tool to make it all digital.
I used google to look at some more symmetrical and geometric patterns. It's more something i'm well trained in so after some tinkering and scrutinising patterns and how they worked I finally started to get somewhere. The only problem then was text, I nearly always draw my own typefaces since I think it helped things flow much better and doesn't just look stuck on like a lot of images do when you borrow a font from somewhere. This was an exception though, since the starting image was very clean and much closer to graphic design I decided to use a pre-made font called Long Shot
Below was the final image I came up with and then it mocked up on the same coaster design as the previous poster.
