Wes Lang is painter form L.A he also used to work in a tattoo parlour but now focus' mainly on painting and creating large scale art work. His work his very influenced by tattoos and that way of living, there as also personal messages and nuances throughout his work which I think gives them a lot of character. I think Wes Lang is important for me to acknowledge for this brief because his work is very influenced by tattooing but holds its own with it's unique compositions and line work.
I'd been neglecting this brief for what I thought was because I know I could knock it out very quickly but I think it's also because I've become very disillusioned in it and was more interested in creating other types of work but I feel this research has given me a push in the right direction.
It's worth mentioning Wes Lang has also worked in high fashion and with music artists, making the controversial Kanye West Yeezus tour merchandise; a ring for Marc Jacobs and also working with Rolex to create a edgier Rolex watch in 2012 that retails for $19,000. I want one, but I cannot afford one.
